🎉 Winning the Worlds 5 times: the inspiring journey of a passionate cheerleading athlete (S1.13)

Episode of April 9, 2024

POST-PODCAST Mention (June 1, 2025): Jess Hausler is now a 6x world champion in 2025. **

In episode 13 of the Kick's Cheer Podcast , we had the pleasure of meeting Jessica Hausler , an exceptional athlete who has won the World Cheerleading Championships (the "Worlds")... 5 times! Yes, you read that right: 5-time world champion . But beyond the medals, it's above all a story of passion, perseverance and resilience that she shares with us.

💪 The balance between studies, cheer and personal life

Jess has never been content with "just" cheer. She's also pursued college , coached teams, and continued to perform at the highest level. She shares how, by planning ahead and timing her classes, she's managed to manage her busy schedule . Her trick? Using the summer to cut back on her semester and focus fully on cheer.

🤕 Injuries and rest: the reality of world athletes

Even though she's been pretty lucky with injuries, Jess reminds us that in cheer, accidents can happen at any time— and not necessarily at the most spectacular moments. A stunt dismount, a floor performance, or even a nasty fall down a flight of stairs… It's often the most mundane actions that cause injuries. She also emphasizes the importance of resting , especially in the summer or during the holiday break, to recover physically and mentally.

🧠 Managing the pressure of major competitions

When we talk about the Worlds, we often think about the immense stress it represents. However, Jess remains zen: she approaches each practice one at a time , with clear objectives, and tries to live in the present moment . Her secret? Putting herself in her "bubble" during the competition and having fun. For her, cheer is also a way to stay in shape, to have fun, and above all to work as a team .

💞 The support of those around him

Jess also shares her daily life with a friend... who's also into cheer! Even if their schedules don't always align, having a partner who understands the sacrifices of high-level sport makes all the difference. Their bond and mutual understanding have helped them stay together for several years, and they met... because of cheer, of course!

🌟 Become a leader and inspire new generations

After 10 years on her current team (Karma), Jess is now a true veteran . She always welcomes new athletes with open arms, guides them, reassures them, and explains to them that the beginnings are sometimes difficult... but with work, you find your place. For her, every member counts, regardless of the role. She acts as a mentor on the team - always there to motivate.

🥇 Win, but above all progress

Jess makes it clear: she doesn't cheer just for the medals. She's more about improving year after year , learning new skills, and keeping her passion burning. Every season brings her small victories , even after 10 years of world competition.

🧡 His message to young athletes

When asked what she would like to say to little girls (and boys!) who dream of one day going to the Worlds, her answer is simple and powerful:

“Trust the process.”

Because every journey is unique, every step counts, and above all… everything is possible when you believe in it .
