In the world of cheerleading, some people stand out not only for their talent, but also for their contagious passion. Nadia Belzy is one of those people. In episode 14 of the Kick's Cheer Podcast , she reflects on her exceptional journey, filled with firsts, pride, and most importantly... dreams come true.
Nadia: a pioneer at the World Championship 🌎
Nadia tells us how, somewhat by surprise, she found herself hosting the world's largest cheerleading championships . A real first for a French-speaking Quebecer! While she initially didn't realize the scale of what was happening, the reactions on social media—and behind the scenes of the competition—left her in no doubt: she had made an impression .
When she arrived at the competition, she started off gently, respecting the required protocol and bilingual tone. But on the second day, everything changed. Her supervisor told her frankly:
“We didn’t hire you to be like the others, we hired you to be Nadia.”
And then the magic happened : floral dress, overflowing energy, unique vibe… Nadia hosted in French, set the crowd on fire and even went viral on Twitter ! A very influential American posted:
"This Quebecker MC is lite — let's keep her!" Understand: “This Quebecker MC is incredible, we must keep her!”
A voice for the French-speaking world in a predominantly English-speaking world 📣
This highlight also highlighted an important point: even in an international sport, linguistic diversity is still underrepresented . By hosting in French, Nadia opened a door. She showed that, even at an event where everything is in English, you can showcase your language and culture authentically.
She said it herself:
A career that takes off… internationally! ✈
Since that milestone, Nadia has been busy with projects. She was re -confirmed for the second year at the World Championship , this time with even more responsibilities. And that's not all: in May 2024, she set foot in Europe for the first time, in Lyon, to host the Spirit Academy Championship in France. Another big milestone!
Today, hosting is her full-time job, and she is probably one of the most international cheerleading hosts we know. From Quebec to France, including the biggest American stages, Nadia makes French-speaking cheerleading shine throughout the world.
A message for young athletes (and their parents)
At the end of the episode, Nadia and the podcast team share a powerful message:
“Whatever your dream, it is possible. You have to believe in it, never give up, and above all, surround yourself with the right people.”
This message is addressed to both young people and parents. Nadia's journey is living proof. With passion, perseverance, and a healthy dose of madness, anything is possible.
