🎙️ P.O.S.I.T.I.F – Kick’s Cheer Podcast (S3.18)

Episode aired on January 13, 2026

First episode of 2026, first Sujet à Janie of the year… and no unnecessary detours.

In this episode of the Kick’s Cheer Podcast, Janie, Nadia, and Keaven kick off the year with a clear message: you don’t need talent or money to become a good athlete. What you need is an attitude. A real one.

And that attitude fits into one single word: P.O.S.I.T.I.F.

A simple, powerful acronym that can be applied right now, by athletes, parents, coaches, and even fans.

🔤 P.O.S.I.T.I.F: the acronym that changes everything

P – Punctuality

Being on time is free. Being early is respect.

At practice, at competitions, at school, or at work, punctuality shows seriousness, commitment, and professionalism. Practice starts at 8:00? At 8:00, you’re ready, not just walking in.

O – Organization

Zero talent, zero money… but if you’re organized, you can go far.

Read your emails. Check the calendar. Pack your bag the night before. Learn the sport. Ask questions.

Organization reduces stress, improves performance, and makes you someone people can rely on, both as an athlete and as a parent.

S – Smile

A smile costs nothing… but it changes everything.

Cheerleading is a sport of performance and presentation. An athlete who smiles shows they want to be there. It’s contagious, motivating, and it lifts the entire team.

And this applies to practices too, not just competitions.

I – Consistent Intensity

You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be consistent.

Show up with energy. Give 100%, even when it’s hard. Teams that improve are made up of athletes who bring steady intensity, practice after practice.

That’s often where the magic happens.

T – Tenacity

Talent might open a door. Tenacity keeps you in the room.

Believe in yourself. Push through walls. Keep going when it’s tough.

Athletes who persevere often end up surpassing those for whom everything seemed easy at the start, in cheerleading, and in life.

I – Involvement

Being involved is about the small actions.

Helping a teammate. Staying after practice. Taking part in fundraisers. Supporting your team at competitions. Showing up.

That’s what builds team spirit, and what shows on the mat.

F – Fair Play

Respect your sport. Respect other teams. Respect the judges. Respect your environment.

Cheerleading is a judged sport, but above all, it’s a sport built on values. Cheering for others, even within your own category, is part of cheerleading’s DNA.

Respect starts with yourself.

🎯 Zero talent. Zero money. Zero excuses.

Through a Full Out question, Janie shares the story of an athlete who started from very far back, no natural abilities, no easy path, who, through consistency, tenacity, and attitude, became a high-level athlete.

A powerful reminder: talent can be developed, but attitude is a choice.
