🎤 End-of-Season Q&A: Answers to Your Cheerleading Questions (S2.37)

Episode of June 2, 2025

As the season draws to a close, the Kick's Cheer Podcast team took the time to answer your questions in a big Q&A 🤩. Whether you're an athlete, parent, or coach, this episode is packed with explanations, tips, and candid discussions about our sport.

📌 Question about bids for the Worlds

Many were wondering if the number of bids would change next year. For Kick's, there will be three more bids to be distributed. The system remains stable: the number of bids depends on the number of teams registered the previous year. Some competitions are already "capped" at a fixed number, such as Celebration with its 15 bids. Conclusion: a slight increase is possible, but no revolution is planned.

⚖️ Tiebreakers and ties

In case of a tie, everything depends on the event producer. At Kick's, the tiebreaker is played first on:

  1. Fewest deductions 📝

  2. The best execution score in stunt, then in pyramid and choreography. Note: at the Summit, there is no tie-breaker – if it is equal, everyone keeps the same place.

🅰️ AA, AAA… what does that mean?

These letters are simply used to divide the categories USUALLY according to team size (but it is not an exact science), to avoid groups that are too large. This does not indicate a level of performance (unlike baseball 😉). A producer can also choose other names (A, B, C… or even Small, Medium, Large).

🎓 Take a judge training course when you are a coach

Even if you don't want to become a judge, taking the training is super helpful for understanding how routines are judged. It helps you become a better coach or choreographer. Accessible to everyone ✅.

🤝 The coach-athlete relationship

A good coach must know his athletes, but maintain his role of authority. Team bonding activities (restaurants, cinema, group outings) are very good ✅. But be careful not to cross certain boundaries, especially with minor athletes.

🏫 All-Star or Scholastics?

  • Scholastics : All athletes must attend the same school (or official grouping of schools).

  • All-Star : open to all, regardless of city or school.

💙 Favorite teams

Not really a "favorite team" for the podcast team... but favorite moments : original choreography, incredible energy, a burning audience 🔥.

🎯 In summary : This Q&A helped shed light on many frequently asked topics. Whether it's understanding the bid system, managing ties, or even coach-athlete relationships, we see that cheerleading is a sport that requires passion, rigor, and... a bit of curiosity about all its rules.

💬 And you, what question would you like to ask in the next Q&A?
