Episode of May 26, 2025 with Pascale Labelle, Flames Cheerleading
In the world of cheerleading, choosing the right level for an athlete isn't just a matter of pride or challenge. It's a key decision for safety š”ļø, progression š and⦠fun š !
š« Leveling up too quickly can slow down your progress
Many people think that being placed in a higher tier will automatically motivate them šŖ. But the reality is different:
ā If the elements are too difficult, you risk stagnating.
ā ļø You may become less involved in certain parts of the routine.
𩹠It's also a risk to your safety and that of your teammates.
š” It's better to excel at your current level than to "rush" to a level that's too high.
The philosophy of the clubs
Each club has its values š¬:
šÆ Build high-performing teams from the start of the season.
š Place athletes according to what they can do at tryout time .
ā Reserve āexceptionsā only when necessary to complete the team.
ā³ Progress takes time
An athlete does not level up every year, and that's normal ā .
š Golden rule for coaches: 3 years per level
1ļøā£ 1st year ā learn the basics š
2ļøā£ 2nd year ā start to master šļø
3ļøā£ 3rd year ā excel and move to the next level š
š Development doesn't just happen in team training
To evolve, you also have to work outside:
āŗ Participate in performance camps.
š¤øāļø Tumbling, strength training, flexibility.
š Go to open gyms to practice in a fun and safe environment.
šļø Patience pays off
Coaches think about safety, progression and overall performance.
The goal šÆ: to place each athlete where they can succeed and excel.
The right level at the right time = more fun ā¤ļø and more success š .
š” In short : trust the process š, work hard š„ and let the progression happen naturally š±.
