Episode of May 5, 2025
The world of cheerleading is about to welcome a brand new event: the AIA ā Association of International Allstars. This private, international tournament promises to shake up the culture and offer a unique experience for clubs, athletes, and parents from around the world.
š AIA: a new format
Unlike annual competitions, the AIA will be held every 18 months, allowing for alternating seasons between different countries. This choice makes the competition fairer, especially for countries whose calendars are not aligned with those of the United States or Canada and therefore do not have an advantage at the "IASF World Championships".
The first edition will take place in Montreal from July 16 to 19, 2026, in the midst of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Montreal Olympic Games. After that, the competition will travel to other regions such as South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
šÆ A competition for all levels
The AIA will be open from level 1 to level 7, starting from the U16 category. Teams will be able to participate through invitations (at large, partially or fully paid), offered by partner event producers.
Another new feature is that 16 athletes will not be required to participate, making the competition more accessible to smaller countries and clubs.
š° Giving back to sport
The AIA makes no secret of the fact that this is a private tournament, but with a clear mission to redistribute part of the revenue to participating gyms. In concrete terms, each club will receive a check at the end of the event, proportional to the number of athletes involved.
š More than just a competition
Each team will make at least two appearances and championships will be organized by level. Imagine: being crowned world champion of your level, regardless of division or age.
š A true international opening
With event producers from over 14 countries, the AIA aims to create a truly global event, without any permanent advantage for any one country. Efforts are also made to welcome participants in their own language, so that everyone feels included and represented.
š Why this is exciting for us
For Quebec, this first edition is a golden opportunity:
No need to travel far;
Reduced fees for local teams;
A chance to experience a global event at home.
After 2026, we'll have to wait a long time before the tournament returns to Canada... So we might as well make the most of it!
